Lawrence Foldes

LAWRENCE DAVID FOLDES, has tackled every genre since his first feature, the cult classic Malibu High in 1978, when he was recognized as the youngest professional filmmaker on record. From horror with Don’t Go Near The Park to explosive action features like Young Warriors and Night Force to the comedy Prima Donnas (aka Social Suicide), Lawrence has encountered almost every form of filming challenge.

Deciding to do films that leave a significant and positive impact on peoples lives, Lawrence finds his transition to emotional ensemble dramas and the widescreen Cinemascope format the most creative and rewarding. His latest feature Finding Home was shot almost entirely on location on a remote island off the rugged Maine coast and stars Oscar nominee Geneviève Bujold, Oscar winner Louise Fletcher and The Patriot’s Lisa Brenner. The powerful story of forgiveness, reconciliation and redemption has won numerous honors including 5 Best Picture awards, Best Director and Best Actress at the Monaco Int’l. Film Festival and was hailed by film critic Rex Reed of The New York Observer as “honest and relevant, intense and riveting, it’s a cause for rejoicing.” Mr. Reed goes on to say, “Writer-director Lawrence David Foldes has proven that movies can still be fresh, creative, contemporary and full of surprises.” ). CBS says “ One of the best films of the year. A compelling human drama, simultaneously dark and luminous. In every way, a beautifully rendered work.”

Lawrence is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and serves on its Awards Executive Committee. Since 1991, he has served on the faculty and as Film Program Advisor at The International Film & TV Workshops in Rockport, Maine.
