"PATCHWORK"
WRITTEN BY AMANDA KEENER

Log Line:

A modern day fairy tale about Maddie, a teenage girl who hates fairy tales; however, along the way, she learns this adventure may help her accept the loss of her mother. While searching for a music box that can grant the user any wish, Maddie begins to learn that, like a Patchwork quilt, family isn’t made from the same pattern.

Synopsis:

Ever since her mother died when she was young, Maddie has hated fairy tales. With her father always working, Maddie had to grow up at an early age and believed that fairy tales were a waste of time. However, her life is changed when she rescues a cat. This cat is no ordinary cat. Simply known as Cat, he is the familiar to a witch and keeper of the key to an enchanted music box that can grant any wish. He entrusts her with the key, a bracelet. At first, Maddie believes it’s a dream; but, when she is attacked by a golem in the library, she realizes that until she finds the music box, she will never be safe.

In the pursuit of the music box, she discovers that there are two groups also seeking. The first group is the Professor, a brilliant but eccentric man who works with his nephew, Dillan, Maddie’s new mysterious classmate. Due to a misunderstanding, Dillan was cursed by a crazy old dog lady. The curse wasn’t completed so now, when night falls, he grows dog-ears and a fluffy tail. The leader of the second group is the elegant and enchanting Katherine. She is the head of a major toy company and a rival of the Professor’s.

The journey has its challenges. The music box is split into pieces hidden in alternate dimensions in New York City. Each piece is guarded by tests that could kill Maddie.

Maddie must decide which group deserves the music box. The Professor’s, who’ s intention is to study it, or Katherine, who could help Maddie get the wish she always wanted… her mother alive.
