Believing that Nevil has no living family, Lee takes the Vespa and hides it in her garage. When Nevil’s long lost son, Ralph, shows up, he is looking for more than the Vespa - he’s looking for a key to his past that Lee unwittingly possesses. Lee’s attempt to cover her tracks catapults her into a thrilling escapade in which Lee becomes a superhero of sorts: in private, sorts. In private she’s still the reclusive, silent Lee Chang, but in public, she’s the Vespa Avenger. As Lee takes risk after risk, she becomes embedded in the lives of others: as a confidante, friend and a vehicle for atonement. Ultimately, Lee accomplishes her mission, and becomes an unlikely hero..

In helping others make peace with their own lives, she finds friendship, love, and is able to finally make pence with her own past.
